When I tell people about my website the first thing they ask me is if my husband is upset or insulted about it. I then go on to explain that you just have to love an idiot no matter how idiotic they are. In fact the more idiotic they are the more you love them.
In college I took a Native American Literature class. One of the books I read made a lasting impression on me. The title of that book was "The Return Of The Thunderbeings", by Iron Thunderhorse. The Thunderbeings are a Native American myth. They are beings that are believed to live in the thunderclouds. It was believed that if you saw a Thunderbeing you become like a holy person. The actions of the people who saw these beings is described as becoming like a rodeo clown or a jester or an idiot. These people were called upon in hard times to help the people laugh, boost morale and heal. These idiots were revered and highly respected in tribal life.
Even in our modern society, idiots are still highly respected and idiocy is a multi-billion dollar business. Humor is a deep emotion that can affect your entire being. Scientists have proven that a good laugh is very healthy and highly recommended in the process of healing. Take an old TV show like the Honeymooners. The more idiotic Ralph becomes the more I laugh and want to watch more. I feel pretty good after laughing like that. Who doesn't love I Love Lucy or The Osborne's, Married With Children, The Flintstones, The Simpson's, George Lopez, The Coneheads, That 70's Show, to name a few? They keep us laughing even in hard times and where did that old saying come from that laughter is good for the soul. The ability to laugh at ones self, or in my case ones spouse can be very beneficial in the humdrums of everyday life.
Now it could be that my husband is this higher being, a holy man, who is here to make me and anyone who knows him, laugh at the pitfalls of life, which in return helps the healing process. His music soothes my soul and his idiocy drive's me into a lunacy of my own madness that leaves me laughing, sometimes for years... Or, Mark could just be an idiot because of a childhood accident when he fell out of a tree onto his head. This could have damaged the part of the brain that applies to common sense. Or maybe it could just be his God given talent, (his music) that drive's his mind to a different level or dimension of existence. A place where he is unable to fully come down from, a place like Willoughby, you know the twilight zone? Friends and family, you all know what I'm talking about. Mark walks simultaneously in two worlds, and I never know where he is really at until he does that idiot thing.
